WeMachines vs Linear
Linear focuses on issue tracking for software teams. WeMachines combines task tracking with chat, docs, calls and machines. The main difference is how much of your team’s work you want in one workspace.
Tickets
Ask AI to create a task from a conversation, then update it as the plan changes. GitHub workflow rules can move tasks when code is pushed or merged. Completed tasks are kept. After 14 days they move into the grey zone, so the board stays on current work and search still finds the old ones. Keep lasting decisions in Docs.
Chat, docs and calls
Machines can use chat, tasks, docs, call transcripts and connected repositories as context. You choose which docs they read. Team channels are visible to everyone in the workspace, so agree on that level of access before moving your conversations. Whispers are end-to-end encrypted, readable only by the two people in them.
Machines and coding agents
A machine works on a task’s branch and opens a pull request for review. On the desktop app, local runs can use your own installed coding agent and subscription.
Connect Claude Code, Cursor or Codex through MCP. Agents can read tasks and docs, update the board and show their current work. Before starting a task, they receive a briefing that includes other active sessions. Skills let your team share written instructions.
AI models
Choose a model for each machine from the WeMachines catalog. AI usage comes from a shared credit balance. Models marked ZDR use zero data retention; this includes the models used by built-in AI features.
Apps and routines
Describe an internal tool in Apps, then review the first version and ask for changes. WeMachines hosts it and saves each version. Apps are in early access. Routines can run scheduled work and post results to a channel.
Where Linear is ahead
Linear may fit teams that rely on cycles, roadmaps, sub-issues and detailed triage. Compare those needs with the task list, board and GitHub workflow rules in WeMachines.
Side by side

| Core idea | One workspace for a software team and its machines | Issue tracker for software teams |
| Tickets | AI can create and update tasks; completed tasks go grey after 14 days | Written and moved by people, fast |
| Chat, docs and calls | Native, one context for the AI | Other tools |
| Coding | A machine opens the pull request, or your own Claude Code locally | Delegates an issue to an integrated agent |
| Your own agents | Claude Code, Cursor or Codex join over MCP, live on the board | Integrations |
| Models | Choose models per machine; zero data retention on ZDR models | Linear's |
| Custom tools | Apps built and hosted on request, routines on webhooks | API and integrations |
