WeMachines vs Coda

Coda lets teams build tools with tables, formulas and buttons inside docs. In WeMachines, you describe an internal tool and a machine builds it. Both approaches involve testing the result and adapting it to your team.

Building an internal tool

Ask for an app, review the first version and request changes in its thread. WeMachines hosts it and can provide a database when needed. Each change saves a version you can restore or export. Apps are in early access.

Docs

WeMachines docs support shared editing and AI edits. Ask for a page in chat or select a passage and request a change. You can add tables and charts, and discuss a passage in an inline comment.

AI

Machines work in chat, tasks and docs. They can research the web or start a coding run that returns a pull request. Routines run recurring jobs. Models marked ZDR use zero data retention, including the built-in AI.

Tickets

Ask AI to create a task from a conversation, then update it as the plan changes. GitHub workflow rules can move tasks when code is pushed or merged. Completed tasks are kept. After 14 days they move into the grey zone, so the board stays on current work and search still finds the old ones. Keep lasting decisions in Docs. Your local coding agents can also update tasks through MCP.

Shared context

Machines can use chat, tasks, docs, call transcripts and connected repositories as context. You choose which docs they read. Team channels are visible to everyone in the workspace, so agree on that level of access before moving your conversations. Whispers are end-to-end encrypted, readable only by the two people in them.

Where Coda is ahead

Coda may fit teams that want to design tools directly with formulas, buttons and connected data. Compare that approach with asking a machine to build an app and reviewing the code and result.
