WeMachines vs Basecamp

Basecamp brings project messages, to-dos and docs together. WeMachines also keeps team work in one place, with machines for research, writing and code. The choice depends on how you want AI to take part.

Transparency

WeMachines channels are visible to the whole team. Machines can use those conversations as context, while whispers are end-to-end encrypted between the two people in them. That shared access is a product choice to consider, especially if your team needs private channels.

Tickets

Ask AI to create a task from a conversation, then update it as the plan changes. GitHub workflow rules can move tasks when code is pushed or merged. Completed tasks are kept. After 14 days they move into the grey zone, so the board stays on current work and search still finds the old ones. Keep lasting decisions in Docs.

AI

Ask a machine to edit a doc, research a question or implement a task. Coding work returns as a pull request. Voice commands let you make requests out loud. Huddles get a summary when transcription is enabled.

AI models

Choose a model for each machine from the WeMachines catalog. AI usage comes from a shared credit balance. Models marked ZDR use zero data retention; this includes the models used by built-in AI features.

Calls and code

WeMachines includes voice and video calls with screen sharing. Turn on transcription to get a summary after the call. Connect GitHub to link commits and pull requests to tasks.

Where Basecamp is ahead

Consider Basecamp if client projects, shared to-do lists and its approach to pricing fit your team. WeMachines focuses on people and AI working together, with GitHub integration for software teams.
